Algonquin Downtown Plan

Traditional downtown districts face competing and sometimes conflicting interests (e.g. historic preservation and new development) when it comes to revitalization. To overcome this issue in downtown Algonquin a large and diverse representation of downtown stakeholders were engaged to participate on the project steering committee. These participants oversaw the public engagement portion of the project with the specific objective of developing a balanced and beneficial plan for the entire community. Serving as ambassadors for their constituents interests, these participants encouraged attendance at workshop meetings, distributed surveys, provided input for their respective groups, and developed consensus to ensure the success of the plan.
