DSATS Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan

The use of bicycles as reliable, daily transportation, and recreation circulation modes is up throughout the US. This includes not just urban areas but also suburban and rural areas with significant growth pressures. The DeKalb Sycamore Area Transportation Study addressed its growing demand for enhanced pedestrian and bicycle circulation through its Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. With input from a diverse collection of advocates throughout the study area, plans were prepared that promoted interconnectivity of the various systems and trails, enhanced rider safety along rights-of-way, encouraged education of “share the road” principals, and established long term initiatives to secure funding for future improvements.
