North Chicago Biotechnology Park

The confluence of a pharmaceutical giant, naval training facility, veterans medical center, private medical school, and a strategic location with strong transit and Lake Michigan access is the stuff of developer dreams. These are the assets that North Chicago has within and abutting its boundaries. To unify and capture its tremendous potential, the City prepared a feasibility study to explore establishment of a designated biotechnology district. Market linkage opportunities were combined with regulatory requirements, land use availability, and site and circulation configuration alternatives to demonstrate the viability of the initiative. Political and regulatory efforts are underway at the local, state, and federal level to bring the district to reality.
